Pickle in Paradise: Second Annual Pickleball Tournament

Prepare to play pickleball in paradise for a purpose! The Second Annual Pickle in Paradise pickleball tournament is scheduled to take place at Key Largo Park on February 7, 2026. This event promises to be highly popular for both players and spectators.

Supporting the Key Largo Rotary Scholarship Program

Hosted by the Key Largo Rotary, this exciting event will do more than just showcase the growing popularity of pickleball in the local community—it will also benefit the Key Largo Rotary Scholarship Program. This vital program assists students and adults in pursuing their dreams and advancing their careers by providing vocational, college, and continuing education scholarships.

The Key Largo Rotary funds the scholarship program through several annual events. However, following Hurricane Irma, the Rotary was forced to discontinue one of its favorite fundraisers, “Brew on the Bay.” They have been searching for a new fundraising replacement ever since. Enter pickleball.

“Pickleball has grown so much in popularity, and the high energy and fun is contagious. It’s a great way to help raise money and awareness for these life-changing scholarships,” says Michelle Pope, one of the tournament organizers and the current Key Largo Rotary secretary.

Tournament Details and Registration

The Pickle in Paradise tournament kicks off at 9 a.m. at the Key Largo Park Pickleball Courts. These ten public courts are a new, high-quality addition to the community and have been extremely well-received.

Players will compete in men’s, women’s, and mixed divisions, spanning beginner/intermediate and advanced skill levels. The event is open to all ages, and this year, a junior division will be included.

The tournament can host up to 76 players, so spots are limited. Registration is $75 per player, and organizers suggest signing up quickly, as the event is filling up fast.

Winners of each division will receive fun prizes, including top-tier branded paddles and painted coconuts from a local artist. All division winners will also receive commemorative medals to mark their victory. The tournament organizers are Michelle Pope, Jennifer Roth, and Cheryl Powers.

Fun for the Whole Family

While the tournament is sure to draw plenty of attention from pickleball enthusiasts, there will also be ample activities for non-players. The event will feature food trucks, vendor tents, and a variety of health and wellness services, making it a perfect outing for the entire family.

Jennifer Roth, a past Rotary President and another key organizer, says, “It’s going to be a fun time and a great way to support a cause that’s so important to our community.”

Sponsorship and Further Information

The Key Largo Rotary has several opportunities available for interested parties to become sponsors to support the event. All funds raised from the tournament remain in the community and go directly to the scholarship program.
