Every Keys boater knows the feeling. The sea breeze whipping through their hair, the distant shores sliding by, the feeling of freedom as they glide through the water. For Jonathan Lorenzo, it was an everyday feeling. As a captain and yacht broker in the Keys, those moments were as much a part of his workday as they were his downtime.
Born and raised in Miami, Jonathan moved to the Keys in 2020, expecting to enjoy the change of pace, but not how completely he’d meld into island life.
“Everyone said I’d need to learn how to slow down, but the Keys lifestyle came naturally to me,” Jonathan says. “It was actually harder to leave the rock than it was to move to it.”
For four years, Jonathan lived it fully. The Keys community welcomed him immediately, and he fit right into the laidback rhythm of island living. He spent his free time hanging out at Mosquito Bank or Alligator Reef, soaking in the sun while being cooled by the ocean breeze.
From the Water to the Road
As a yacht broker, he enjoyed finding the best deals for clients, connecting them with the right boat, and making sure they got genuine value. However, about a year and a half ago, he got the opportunity to transition from boat brokerage to auto broker. The new job pulled him to Fort Lauderdale, but he knew it could still provide a strong link to the community he loves.

During his time in the Keys, Jonathan noticed that buying a car meant leaving paradise entirely. The nearest dealerships sat in Homestead or Miami, requiring a full day to navigate traffic, endure typical dealer pressure, and drive home exhausted and often frustrated. When Jonathan became an auto concierge at MotorBreeze, he realized he could provide a better option for the Keys community.
“I enjoyed being a yacht broker, and love being on the water but the shift to vehicles opened up opportunities to offer a necessity as much as a luxury— especially for the Keys customers who know firsthand how much of a hassle it is to leave the island to buy a car.”
Bringing the Dealership to the Keys
Today, Jonathan eliminates that hassle entirely. Through MotorBreeze, he sources any brand vehicle, handles trade-ins and early lease exits, and delivers directly to customers’ homes anywhere from Key Largo to Key West. No pressure, no inflated prices, no wasted days on the mainland, and over 1,000 five-star reviews to back it up.

“At MotorBreeze, we give the best and final price possible right from the start, no excess fees or dealer gimmicks, and the car’s delivered to your home or business. It couldn’t be easier.”
Each sale reinforces what he learned during his years on the rock: Keys customers value straight talk, fair deals, and people who understand their time is better spent enjoying the islands than sitting in mainland dealerships.
Still Living the Keys Life
Through his work with the Key Largo Chamber and connections to local captains and businesses, Jonathan has delivered several cars to locals, such as his father Carlos Lorenzo, Shelby Morris, Ricardo and Ivette Mendes at Pilot House Restaurant, and many others. And when he’s not working? He’s still living that Keys lifestyle—fishing, grabbing drinks with friends, enjoying good food and easy conversation. He drives down a couple times a month to visit and spend time with his friends and family, and soaking in the Keys before returning home.
When Jonathan drives back across the 18-mile stretch, he thinks about all of the customers he gets to help breeze through the Keys in a new way– not on a fancy boat, but in their perfect new car. Their windows down, the marinas peeking between buildings, the feeling of freedom as they cruise down the Overseas Highway. If you’d like that feeling, too, Jonathan is happy to help.
